What is IDAC?
Intercultural Diversity Advisory Council (IDAC) draws members from parents to represent our school at district level climate assessment/problem-solving meetings. The primary purpose of the Intercultural Diversity Advisory Council (IDAC), originally formed in 1988 as the Intercultural Advisory Council, is to assist in the formation and review of policies that assure non-discriminatory practices in all operational areas of the Clovis Unified School District. Its further mission is to assist in improving the cultural environment of the District.

We are celebrating multicultural week on March 18th-22nd. We will have a variety of groups perform during lunch. We will also be holding a Fashion Show on Friday morning, March 22nd. This is an opportunity for students to dress in clothing from their culture and be acknowledged on stage. Please look for more information to come. Along with wearing clothing representing their heritage, we also would like a short paragraph describing the clothing and what occasions it would be worn. Students will also be participating in games from different cultures during recess. We will also highlight fun facts from various cultures each day on our morning announcements.
The Cedarwood staff will intentionally plan lessons and provide opportunities for students of all cultural backgrounds to participate in events and classroom activities that allow them to share aspects of their culture.
Cedarwood will celebrate Multicultural Week Jan 27th-31st. We will hold our 2nd annual Fashion Show highlighting all the different cultures here at Cedarwood. Students will also participate in a variety of games and activities.
Acceptance and Understanding of All
We encourage inclusion of all students across our campus through daily experiences and a variety of Character Strength and Relationship Building Lessons
Positive psychology’s 24 character strengths serve as the foundation of The Positivity Project’s approach. The Positivity Project is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated partnering with K-12 schools and helping America’s youth build stronger relationships by seeing the character strengths in themselves and others. The vision is to create citizens and leaders who will enhance our communities and country by internalizing the belief that #otherpeoplematter
Toys for Tots/ Coins for Tots
Every year Cedarwood participates in donating Toys for Tots. We have had great sucess in the previous years. Any donated toys need to be unwrapped, and they can be for all ages. New this year, you can also donate coins to go towards a gift, you can put any donations in your class's Coins for Tots jar. Our student council members will purchase a toy with your donated coins on behalf of our school. If you have any coins of tots to donate, now is a great time to remember to drop it in the jar or box! Thank you for all your donations.
