Our Cedarwood orchestra students are working hard learning to play new music on their instruments.  We had a wonderful winter concert in December and are now hard at work learning our Fundamental Skills for testing.  Our testing date is February 23rd. All 5th and 6th grade orchestra students will be tested on a scale, a song, and their sight-reading skills.  On March 1st, our 6th graders are going on a field trip to Clovis High to listen to older music students play and learn how to sign up for orchestra in middle school.  Then 6th grade orchestra has a festival in April at the Performing Arts Center where they perform two music pieces for judges. Finally, we will have our Spring Concert at Cedarwood on Monday May 22nd to end the year.  Thank you for all your support with practice at home. Please email Mrs. Humphreys if you have any questions! Mrs. Emily Johnson has been teaching elementary orchestra in Clovis Unified since 2016. She started playing string instruments in elementary school and switched instruments several times through middle and high school before choosing to study the double bass in college. She holds a BA in Music Performance, emphasis on the Double Bass, and an MA in Music Education from Fresno State University. She has wanted to be a music teacher since she was 14 years old. She recently married another music teacher/bass player, and she lives in Clovis with her husband and two cats.
